The Birds and Flights of Aviation Sectoral Conference held at the Art-Hotel Lecco, Mytischi on 1-3 March was devoted to 50th Anniversary of research done in the field of birdstrikes prevention by specialists of Aviation Ornithology Group (AOG) as a part of The State Scientific Research Institute of Civil Aviation – State Center of Aviation Flights Safety – The Two Wings Company.
The Sectoral Conference was visited by birdstrike specialists from airports and airlines, specialists of territorial bodies of the Air transport management of Russian Federation and other CIS countries, with total number of 50 participants.
The Conference was organized by The Aviation Ornithology Group of the Two Wings Company with participation of Flight Safety Inspection Body of Russian Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) of Russian Ministry of Transportation.
The Aims of the Conference
a) Define the current state of ornithological provision of flight safety at airports and airlines
b) Compile and distribute practical experience gathered in the sector of Russian air transport on prevention of birds and other wildlife strikes
c) Improve the quality of planning, organization and implementation of activities to reduce the risk posed by birds to aviation flights
d) Prepare a proposal for Russian Ministry of Transportation on the improvement of the sectoral regulatory framework in the field of ornithological provision of flight safety
e) Discuss questions of creation of the Russian National Birdstrike Committee, periodical sectoral meetings of specialists, cooperation with international organizations in the field of birdstrike prevention
f) Coordinate views on the development of ornithological provision of flight safety in commercial and state aviation
g) Establish and develop a working relationship between the sectoral expert body (AOG) and specialists from Russian airports, airlines, regional Russian air transport authorities on the reduction of danger posed by wildlife

The program of the Conference included presentations of participants’ reports in the conference hall of the Lecco hotel equipped with modern technical devices (www.lecco-hotel.ru/konferenc-zal/).
The program and order of the Birds and Flights of Aviation Conference work was compiled and settled on the receipt of applications and papers titles from the participants.
