24 December 2011 The Second All-Russia Scientifically-Technical Conference "Problems of the Aviational Ornithology" was held in off-line mode through 16 November - 14 December under aegis of the Council of Academy of Science on the biodamage (organizational and technical support by Severtsov Institute for Ecology and Evolution). The International Bird Scaring Commitee (IBSC) announced that the next 30th meeting of the branch specialist will be due through 25-29 of June 2012 in Stavanger (Southern Norway), admission of applications to start in January 2012. 26 July 2011. The work of the Two Wings Company in the field of protection from birds won official support and approval from the Russian Bird Protection Union. |
In April 2011. A set-up meeting of the Working Group concerning the ornithological environment at the Sochi Ariport and range of activities to be held there to improve the ornithological situation during the Winter Olympic games in 2014 was held. The special Working Group would be executing orders and instructions from the Russian Aviation authorities. The AOG representatives also became members of the Group.

December 2010. Severtsov University of Evolution and Ecology of the Russian Academy of Science released a multimedia bird identification key of the Corvidae family allowing to define birds by their feathers and its parts. It’s designed for a taxonomical diagnostics of birds by their feather remains structures. It contains illustrations and descriptions of macro and micro structures of feather elements, photos and sound files of distress signals. It is made specially for workers of civil and military aviation and biology experts, professional ornithologists and biologists dealing with a wide range of subjects. Format: DVD. 21-24 September 2010. The 29th Meeting of International Birdstrike Committee held in Cairns, Australia. The number of reports presented at the meeting was the smallest ever, only 16. It might had happened due to the choice of a quite remote venue. |
2010. According to the Australian Transport Safety Bureau more than 5000 strikes of aircrafts with wildlife were registrered in Australia in 2002-2009, including 597 strikes with Яharadriiformes, 532 - with Galahs (Pink Cockatoos), 327 - with Australian kestrels, 231 - with European herring gulls, also registered strikes with bats and flying foxes - 542 events, with rabbits - 82 strikes, 58 strikes with kangaroo, 34 strikes with wallaby and one single strike with emu (Aviation Research and Analysis Report, AR-2009-064, Final) |
17-18 September 2010. The 2nd International Seminar Bird strike on Aircraft √ New Technology Trends in Airsafety held in New-Delhi, India. (The first Seminar was due in Bangalor in November 2009.) The participants of the sminar represented aviation authorities, Indian airports, aviation manufacurers and scientific establishments. |
14-16 September 2009. The First All-Russia Scientifically-Technical Conference "Problems of the Aviational Ornithology" was held in Moscow under aegis of the Council of Academy of Science on the biodamage. It hosted participants of 38 organizations from Russia, Tajikistan, Moldova, Kazakhstan and Latvia. |
29 July 2007. The first aircrash of a Russian aircraft caused by bird strike for last 20 years. Aircraft An-12, registration number RA93912 belonging to the Atran Airlines after it took off from the Domodedovo Airport stroke with birds which has entailed the failure of both engines and ultimate crash. 7 people dead. The incident was investigated by the Interstate Aviation Committee (inromation from the official IAC website). |
